Welcome to Casa el Riego!

Casa El Riego is an old stone house which was built at the end of the 19th century and is
located on an organic finca close to the rural town of Güímar
on the untouristy east side of the island of Tenerife.

Casa El Riego is a place where people of all ages and cultures come together to connect with themselves,
nature and other like minded people.

To de-stress and revitalize, we offer regular Yoga and Qi Gong classes on our roof terrace with
spectacular 360° views of the mountains and the sea.

We look forward to receiving you in a magical place and to creating a wonderful community.

THE HOUSE

The guest house consists of 6 double rooms, each with its own bathroom and a total capacity of 13 people. For families of several people there is the possibility of connecting rooms.
The common vegetarian guest kitchen with beautiful views on the sea invites you to cook together or your own meals.
The outdoor area of the finca has various tables and places where you can work and eat. As each room also has a table and thanks to our stable and fast 5G internet connection, remote working is no problem.
For those who need to cool off, our 12×4 meter saltwater pool with views on the mountains and the sea is waiting for you!

sUSTAINABILITY

The thick stone walls of the house ensure a pleasant climate all year round, so that we can do without air conditioning and heating. Hot water and electricity are provided by a photovoltaic system.

In order to avoid plastic bottles, the kitchen has an osmosis filter so that we can offer drinkable tap water.

For the cleaning and our projects at the house, we only use (also self-produced) ecological detergents and cleaning agents and mainly sustainable materials.

OUR GARDENS

Our finca disposes of 10.000 m2 of which 3000 m2 are exploited with all kinds of exotic and native trees, herbs and a vegetable garden which provides us with delicious fruit and vegetables several times a year and which our guests are welcome to try.
We are implementing methods of permaculture, composting our organic waste in our two different compost systems (worm and dry). We have planned to improve our water system to reuse our grey water for our trees and to plant an eatable forest on the non-exploited grounds.
Those who would like to learn about ecological gardening while conncecting with nature, are welcome to join Alice every Thursday morning to help putting hands to the gardens.

Environment

We are surrounded by paths with magnificent views and legendary gorges.

The Valle de Güímar is a green and still very unspoilt valley with a high proportion of locals and far away from mass tourism where you can still find empty beaches, authentic restaurants and culture.

The village of Güímar has a beautiful old town center with a good selection of restaurants and a market worth visiting.
